Hourly tutition

I am a full time professional tutor and offer tutoring in the following areas:

• all core subjects at primary level;
• special needs literacy at secondary level;
• mathematics and sciences at Key Stage 3 and GCSE.

My fees vary and are in the range £37 to £50 for an hour's tutoring for the 2018/2019 academic year.

Price is dependent on whether your child comes to my home for tutoring or whether I travel to you. In the latter case the price is also dependent on the distance from my home to yours.

I am passionate about my work and find that helping students to overcome a difficulty or achieve a goal is both inspiring and exciting.

I am flexible, imaginative and creative. I like to present syllabus material in a way that is effective and makes learning easier for a student, playing to his or her strengths and preferred learning styles. I enjoy helping a student gain confidence when, for a variety of reasons, he or she has lost faith in his/her ability to succeed.

I am good at analysing problems and evaluating the exact areas where students are having difficulty. I then work creatively in devising and developing methods to help students progress.

I continually monitor and review both my teaching and the level of understanding and progress being made by a student, so that the tutoring sessions can be as effective as possible.

I have significant experience in working with students on the autistic spectrum as well as those with issues such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADD and other special needs. I understand how subtle problems with information processing can impact upon learning and tailor my teaching very specifically to each individual student in order to maximise his or her learning potential. Even students without additional needs benefit tremendously from this personalised approach.
